Having someone that you can cook fun recipes with, or do workouts with, is always a great idea for so many reasons. I have two workout buddies, one is my boyfriend Michael, the other one of my besties Siobhan, but she isn’t just that! We also love cooking foods together, and learning from each other – workout buddies aren’t just friends who you literally ‘workout’ with, they are friends who you lead a fit and healthy lifestyle together, whether that may be going on walks together, making up fun workouts together, or cooking delicious meals together. Here are five reasons why I think you should have a workout buddy.

 

 

 

1. You will be more motivated –

having a workout buddy will motivate you to keep going, you will not only have more fun which makes the journey more enjoyable (and you less likely to quit), but you will also not want to let your buddy down, so you will be motivated to succeed together.

2. You will have more fun –

If you are workout out with a friend, you aren’t just doing that, but you are socialising too. If you are having fun with a friend, talking about things you have in common, laughing, and being yourselves around each other, you are going to find the workout a lot more enjoyable than if you were by yourself listening to that same workout playlist you listen to every week.

3. You will be more likely to try new things –

If you see an interesting workout online, or if you see someone else do something that you want to try out, it can often be that you are less likely to try these while on your own, because you may think the exercise isn’t being done correctly, you may also not want to leave your comfort zone. Not only is your friend going to support you, but if there is something new that either of you want to try you can do it together, making you feel more comfortable.

4. You may push yourself harder –

If you are with a friend, neither of you are going to want to be the ‘quitters’, you won’t want to stop. You will push yourself also to make sure you aren’t letting your workout buddy down. Competing with a friend (in a positive way of course), can also make you push yourself harder, because you will want to do the best you can in front of your buddy, aiming to impress them.

5. You will meet your goals faster –

when you are being consistent and working together as a team, you are going to find that your performance is better, as you aren’t having long breaks or even giving up on yourself, in the worst case. With the combination of the above factors; you trying new things (and perhaps working new muscle groups), having more fun, and pushing yourself harder, you will find that you will be meeting your goals faster than imagined, all whilst having the most fun.
